THERE was too much delicious food to choose just one winner in the Tradewinds Hotel My Recipe Rules competition.

With so many recipes in front of them, head chef Gary Martin and consultant chef Russell Blaikie named Ruby Kaspi’s bombay potatoes and Nadine McGuire’s raw blueberry cheesecake joint winners.

St Patrick’s Primary School student Mia Grbavac’s quinoa salad and local resident Tim Buckley’s bobby veal were named runners-up.

Mr Martin said the two winning recipes would now be featured on the hotel’s menu.

“We were looking for simple but super-tasty food, but what was interesting is that more than 50 per cent of all entrants supplied a vegetarian option,” he said.

“The winning dishes fit right into the type of food that I love to cook and serve on my menus – light and flavoursome, with a little bit of cultural or tradition.

“It was fantastic to see so many kids get involved and show the foods that they love to eat and cook themselves at home, most surprisingly healthy salads.”
