Hope for green space at North Fremantle Primary School

The school has entered the My Park Rules competition, a part of the national 202020 initiative that aims to give children around the country better access to natural, green outdoor space.

They put together a proposal to turn an unused area of the school campus into a green learning hub with an outdoor classroom, kitchen and sensory garden

Principal Janine Bersan said the State competition winner would have their dream space designed, while the national winner would have it built with the help of landscape architects.

“Nature shouldn’t be considered optional to learning,” she said.

“It is so essential to connecting with your community and environment in a meaningful way.

“So even though our grounds are limited in area, we are dedicated to maximising the potential of our natural space.”
