Cockburn Junior Cricket Club and Cockburn Cricket Club led mixed cricket matches and a quiz night at Davilak Reserve on January 24 to support Jalen Smith and his family.

Jalen (15) is undergoing treatment for leukaemia, his second battle with cancer in the last year.

More than 150 people went down to watch the games, while 340 people attended the quiz night.

Both events raised a combined $29,300.

His mum Diana Smith said the result was amazing.

“We were in shock seeing so many people down there on the day to support Jalen,” she said.

“It’s hard to explain how we feel.

“We’re just very grateful.”
