Dianne Black, a walk organiser for nine years, will receive the National Heart Foundation’s Golden Shoe award during Cockburn’s annual Community Trek at Manning Park this Friday.
The awards are for people who have shown support to members of their community and helped others improve their health through walking.
“The friendship and comradeship of the group is what makes it all worthwhile,” Ms Black said.
“I enjoy the company and interacting with others. Being a walk leader means I have to participate and I love every minute of it. I am the one who benefits most of all.”
