Forrestdale’s Coralie Ding claimed gold, while Leanne Harrison (Rockingham) grabbed a silver and Tamara Nicolson (Mandurah) nabbed bronze at the Queensland event. The local club also took out third place overall, finishing as the number one ranked WA team. Head coach Laurie Zagari said the club had targeted a top 10 finish.
‘It makes the club very competitive and positive for the future. It shows that our programs for the athletes work, and as it is a small club, it made a major impact in the sport across Australia,’ he said.
‘The group is looking forward to competing for the Club of The Year this September. In the long term, the club would like to see someone medal in the world championships.’
