The 1.5km swim, jointly organised by Cockburn Masters Swimming Club and the Rotary Club of Cockburn, is an event co-ordinated with the community very much in mind.
Money raised from the swim goes towards supporting literacy programs, the Cockburn Men’s Shed, the Salvation Army and Foodbank, among others.
Jetty to Jetty organising committee member Nick Wyatt said the local beach was a great location to hold the event.
‘It is also unique in that the swim runs parallel to the beach, so parents and supporters are able to walk alongside swimmers, especially the younger children or more inexperienced swimmers, for the whole race, shouting encouragement,’ he said.
