Jimmy pips Tina as concert choice

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

Barnes was chosen over songstress Tina Arena because the City’s Community Events Committee believed he would appeal to a broader audience.

Among other events for 2014-15 is the family favourite Teddy Bears Picnic, a Christmas event, the Australia Day barbecue at Coogee Beach and another community concert at the regional sporting facility on Hammond Road.

A tribute or cover performer impersonating Pink or Kylie Minogue was suggested for the Success concert.

Both concerts are expected to cost about $150,000 each, but are big drawcards for the City.
