THERE was a fair bit of drama at a local school recently, but thankfully for staff, students and parents it was all for show.

Seven talented students and a proud drama teacher from Mater Christi Catholic Primary School were on top of the world after they were crowned winners at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival.

The shield for drama and mime for primary school kids went to the school for a second straight year following its performance of The Undergrounders.

Drama specialist Pat Pottier said the shield was reward for effort for students who began rehearsing in term two.

“It was very rewarding to receive this award as there is no doubt that our students are very talented and they have developed a sophisticated understanding of drama as it is part of their weekly curriculum,” she said.

“They also learnt about how to be a professional, whether you are acting on stage or being a part of the back stage crew.”
