AT least one Fremantle resident has reported they did not receive a complete 2017 local government election ballot package in the mail.

Fremantle’s returning officer said that as of October 5 there had only been one instance of a resident receiving their package without a mayoral ballot paper, and that missing components were rare.

“The process of compiling the 1.55million postal vote packages is an automated one and very occasionally the insertion machine may not grab one of the items that constitute a complete package or grab two of a particular item,” he said.

“This is a very rare occurrence and processes are in place to further mitigate the risk.”

He said if other residents noticed an item is missing from their package, they should go to their local government office for a replacement of the missing item.
