The service was co-ordinated by the Cockburn RSL and held at Memorial Hall Monument, with guest speakers from the Royal Australian Navy, army and Royal Australian Air Force who detailed Australias different involvements in the war.

Our country lost 339 Australians in what is often referred to as the Forgotten War, which was fought from 1950 to 1953.

RSL ceremonial adviser Arthur Stanton said that up until three years ago the Korean War was remembered on April 24, although it was often overshadowed by Anzac services.

We at the RSL City of Cockburn decided that we would hold a service each year on July 27, the day of the signing of the armistice, he said.

We must ensure that we always remember and pay tribute to the 339 Australians who died in action and those who served and returned.
