Bibra Lake business Leaf Bean Machine has set up Coffee for Classes, which involves donations from customers being put towards barista classes for community groups and schools.

The aim is to teach new skills and increase self-confidence in participants. Owner Fleur Cassidy said the program was an extension of work her team had done before.

“We are passionate about helping others and decided to create the program as a way of involving both our wholesale and retail customers in our philanthropy,” she said.

“Coffee for Classes enables youth in crisis to build self-esteem and sometimes it only takes one opportunity in life to set you on your way.”

Ms Cassidy said she was in talks with St Vincent de Paul about running classes with a group of young people.

A group of Gilmore College students recently gave the program a run.

“The Gilmore College students had a great time and the look on their faces was priceless,” Ms Cassidy said.
