EAST Fremantle’s Michael Berry has a good reason to want to take on a 20km solo swim, despite having never swum that big a distance before in his life.
Entered in this weekend’s inaugural Port to Pub, Berry is raising money for those affected by violent crimes through Maylands-based charity angelhands.
“Angelhands works with victims of trauma,” he said.
“In WA, over a hundred people each year are murdered and providing a safe support place is part of what we do.
“There is always a need to try and grow the service and hopefully any money raised will go towards this.”
The Port to Pub is on March 19, with swimmers entering the water from 6.20am.
