A SMALL park in Hamilton Hill will be brought to life as the venue of a community fiesta.

Co-organiser Chris Ferreira said the Bakers Square Community Fiesta would be an exciting event highlighted by a wide range of food, entertainment and culture.

Mr Ferreira was confident this year’s event would attract strong numbers, as it did last year.

“It’s a great opportunity to build on that sense of community connection,” he said.

As it did in 2014, the fiesta will double as a local Garage Sale Trail event.

Across Australia more than 400,000 Australians are expected to visit at least one of the 10,000 garage sales hosted this Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

Event co-founder Andrew Valder said there would be no shortage of bargains.

“Garage Sale Trail is a serious message, but delivered in a really fun way,” he said.

“The simple act of having a garage sale is used as a way to encourage re-use and place a value on the world’s resources.”

Other local garage sales will be held at Great Life Church on Yangebup Road and Aubin Grove Primary School by the Community of Aubin Grove and Harvest Lakes Residents Association.
