WORK continues to improve Fremantle’s High Street Mall as the project moves towards completion by the end of the year.
New public seating and tables, bicycle parking facilities and better lighting will all be a part of the City of Fremantle’s $275,000 upgrade to improve the mall in a bid to get more people walking through and businesses to call the strip home.
City of Fremantle economic development and marketing manager Tom Griffiths said the upgrades would improve the appearance of the mall and provide a better experience for people shopping or walking through.
“The High Street Mall is a well-known and highly visible place in Fremantle and along with being a retail destination in itself, provides a vital link between the CBD and the West End of Fremantle,” he said.
“Over the past year the City has worked with landowners to devise a strategy to enhance the mall, which we all agreed was looking tired and in need of some attention.
“Part of this was landowners re-branding the mall and developing targeted leasing strategies to attract the right mix of retailers.”
