Man sentenced to six months prison for trespass and drugs charges

A MAN has been sentenced to six months in prison for trespassing, stealing a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis and amphetamine.

Rene Smith plead guilty to all offences at Fremantle Magistrates Court today .

Mr Smith was found to be driving a stolen vehicle after it was involved in a crash.

On May 4 Mr Smith was also found with less than one gram of cannabis and amphetamine.

On May 18 he entered a dwelling in North Fremantle and was found by the occupants in the kitchen.

Mr Smith has been in custody since May 18.

“Mr Smith was in a state of intoxication when he trespassed on the property – on reflection he knew he did the wrong thing,” he said.

Magistrate Peter Malone said a jail term was appropriate and that Mr Smith’s behaviour was not good enough.

Mr Smith was sentenced to six months in custody.
