WORK on the new western lookout at Manning Park is almost finished.
City of Cockburn is spending $70,000 revamping the popular spot in line with work to the eastern side, with the old pavers and seats replaced with a square ramp lookout.
Weathered limestone blocks around the perimeter will be retained, while a handrail and custom artwork will be installed in the coming weeks.
Engineering and works services director Charles Sullivan said the new lookout would offer visitors a panoramic view that highlights Cockburn from east to west.
“The new lookout forms a landmark along with the eastern lookout and the Manning Stairs to provide visitors with a great opportunity to enjoy amazing views from this location,” he said.
“It also contributes to the overall interest of the Davilak Trail.”
