“We were shocked and surprised when we won; we feel very proud.”

Fremantle Chamber of Commerce president Ivan Dzeba said while there were exciting projects happening in the city, there were still many challenges ahead.

“We have some exciting projects within the city that are underway and many more which are about to commence,” he said.

“We must respect the people out there that open their doors for business. They are the ones that keep the city going.”

Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk said she was proud to represent the Fremantle community and excited by the city’s prospects.

“We as a government are aware of the opportunities and the potential that Fremantle has,” she said.

“I believe that once the development in particular in Kings Square is finished and having another 1500 workers working in the centre will make an enormous difference and the benefits will flow out.”

Willagee MLA Peter Tinley and former Fremantle MHR Josh Wilson attended the event.
