That was just one point made by the Cockburn Community Steering Committee in its 99-page submission to the local government advisory board late last year in its push to merge Cockburn and Kwinana, rather than split assets and money between neighbouring districts.

Following the public release of the proposal, the committee has called on residents to forward their submissions during the public submission period next month.

‘The affected communities have not been consulted by the State Government so far, but the public submission period in February gives residents the chance to have their say on the future of their local community,’ co-chair Tony Romano said.

The committee will hold another community meeting this Saturday.
