CAROL and Siena Crevacore celebrated some quality mother-daughter time with a difference recently.

The pair was among the first to take part in the inaugural Parent Project Voyage aboard the STS Leeuwin II, a collaboration between the Leeuwin Foundation and Relationships Australia that aims to help family members become closer by stepping outside of their comfort zone and getting involved in all aspect of sailing the ship.

Ms Crevacore said she wanted to take part in the three-day voyage to experience something new with her daughter.

“The experience was so much more than I expected, it was an experience to treasure and reflect on,” she said.

“Our biggest achievement was doing night watch and keeping one another awake in order to complete the watch.

“My daughter loved it and I loved watching her have so much fun and rising to challenges.”

Relationships Australia WA’s Craig Van Waardenburg said the organisation also had two representatives on board to talk to the 13 families about the importance of communication and staying connected.

The next Parent Project Voyage will be held in April 2018.
