My Health Record, what is out and how can you opt out.

What is it?

My health record is an online summary of your key health information including allergies, medications taken, medical conditions diagnosed and pathology test results like blood tests.

This information can be viewed online at anytime and depending on your security settings all or some of your medical information will be accessible by healthcare providers.

Who can view it?

Users are able to nominate individuals to look at records, apply restrictions to the information that healthcare providers can see and restrict access to documents.

Users will be able to see who has accessed their records.

Data from your record may be used for secondary purposes such as research unless you opt out of it.

How to opt out?

Australians will get a My Health Record automatically unless they manually opt out by Monday October 15.

If you would like to opt out you need verifications including a Medicare card and driver’s license.
