AN assistant dean at the University of Notre Dame will be able to further her research into law and education after receiving a $5000 grant.

Professor Joan Squelch was named the 2016 recipient of the professional development award at the Perth Convention Bureau ASPIRE Awards Ceremony this month, with the research grant allowing Ms Squelch to attend the 2016 Australia and New Zealand Education Law Conference in Auckland.

She said some of the funds would also help her to attend the European Association for Education Law and Policy Conference next year.

“I was truly delighted to receive the award,” she said.

“It provides a wonderful opportunity for me to attend an international conference in my field of research and expertise.

“My research is focused mostly on the law and education covering issues such as school discipline and safety, bullying in schools, discrimination in education and workplace safety.

“The conferences provide a great opportunity to present and publish one’s research but also to network and engage with colleagues from different countries and institutions on topics of research interest”
