Party and paint the town for organ donation

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

The Organ Donation and Transplant Foundation of WA will hold a Paint the Town Red Party fundraiser this weekend to help raise the money needed for those needing life-saving transplants.

Local band Twenty Feet Beat are set to entertain the crowd, with the event also including guest speakers, a live auction and raffle prizes.

ODATWA chief executive Simone McMahon said donation rates in WA were improving, with 42 organ donors last year compared with 35 in 2014, but there was still a need to increase public awareness about the importance of becoming an organ donor.

“The latest donation results demonstrate a positive shift for WA organ and tissue donation outcomes and confirms that we are heading in the right direction,” she said. “That said there is of course always still much room for improvement.”
