IT started with a small group of artists who wanted to create a community and culminated with the establishment of the Printmakers Association of Western Australia (PAWA).
Now the best of their work will be showcased at a new exhibition.
The Contemporary Print Media Awards Exhibition of 2018 will open on Friday August 10.
PAWA president Elizabeth Morrison said the exhibition is for all fine art printmakers in WA.
“The art displayed explores the many and varied forms of fine art printmaking,” she said.
“There will be framed, unframed and 3D works.
“I would hope that people will feel excited when they see this exhibition, not just for the works of art on display, but also to experience the joy in collaboration that makes the print world such a thriving one.
“Attending this exhibition will also be an opportunity to learn more about the very vast world that is fine art printmaking.”
Ms Morrison said the group began with a small group of enthusiastic artists in 1974.
“The committee, all volunteers work together with a true sprit of co-operation to provide a venue and facilities to help artists to collaborate, learn and enjoy the fun of print,” she said.
