Perth man charged over tomahawk attack

A MAN has been charged after he allegedly attacked another man with a tomahawk following an argument in Fremantle.

The two men, who were known to each other, began arguing outside lifts at an apartment complex in Hampton Road at Fremantle on Friday night.

The argument escalated and the pair split up, but the attacker allegedly returned to the victim’s unit and slashed him with the axe.

A 29-year-old East Perth man has been charged with committing an act intended to cause grievous bodily harm, prevent arrest in the course of an aggravated home burglary and aggravated home burglary.

He was due to appear in Perth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

The victim, a man in his 30s, required surgery for a cut to the arm.
