PRE-PRIMARY students at Phoenix Primary School have a new play area after a former green space was transformed.

The play space now features a bike track and fresh landscaping, plus a worm farm and vegetable garden.

The idea for the transformation was put forward by pre-primary teacher Renee Johnston in August.

Parents then made it their mission to get it finished by the end of 2016.

Fundraising events were held and parents also completed some of the work themselves.

Donations came in from the City of Cockburn and local businesses to help complete the project.Parent Liz Pavlin, who is also the secretary of the school’s P&C, said students would benefit greatly from the redeveloped space over the coming years.

“I really would like to thank the school community for all their efforts,” she said.
