Dagnall’s photographic print titled The Road Trip resonated with visitors to the exhibition, winning her $5000 to put towards art expenses.

It was her second accolade for the year, after she was also named a finalist in the national Bowness Photography Prize and she said she was thrilled to have received so many votes from people who liked her work so much.

Bankwest Art curator Sandra Murray said the work was a deserving winner.

“I am pleased that the People’s Choice Award has gone to such an iconic, professionally photographed image, the abandoned caravan on the Nullarbor is hauntingly evocative of the contemporary gothic in the Australian landscape,” she said.

“Rebecca’s entry has attracted much attention and I hope it finds a home as it is a visually arresting and high calibre work.”
