SOME of the community’s most creative residents will have their work on show during this week’s Craft and Quilt Fair in Perth.

The fair, to be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from today, will feature displays, demonstrations, hands-on activities and guest artists.

South Lake resident Wendy Hopper is a consultant for Close to my Heart, which offers women the chance to be creative.

Ms Hopper, who began scrapbooking 18 years ago, will have a make-and-take stand at the fair, where her team will also host demonstrations.

“I think we’re reaching that point in the cycle where arts and crafts are a popular activity again,” she said.

“There’s a lot of digital options, but there’s a big market for handmade goods.

“It’s always better to receive a handmade card in the mail then a message over social media.”

The fair will be open from 9am to 4.30pm.
