Police horse injured after striking a cable in Bibra Lake

A POLICE horse was hurt when it struck a wire cable within the Roe 8 road reserve in Bibra Lake this morning.

A police spokesman said police horse Matilda suffered a minor leg injury after striking a wire cable that had been placed around trees inside the Progress Drive site near North Lake Road.

“Officers subsequently found about 40m of heavy braided wire within the site, in an area of low visibility,” a spokesman said.

“(It’s) a situation that is dangerous to people or animals entering the site.”

Who installed the wires remains a mystery.

Rethink the Link spokeswoman Kim Dravnieks said her team knew nothing about the sinister setup, following speculation protesters could be behind it.

Jandakot MLA Joe Francis said it was an “appalling act” by the people responsible.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
