A POLICE officer has been charged with two counts of common assault after an alleged incident involving a taser in Fremantle last year.

The incident was investigated by the Corruption and Crime Commission earlier this year, which raised concerns about the police investigation at the time.

Police announced today that a 46-year-old senior constable was charged by the Internal Affairs Unit over the March 31, 2017 incident.
