LPT1 head, Sergeant Mollie Davies, and her five constables will be responsible for Atwell, Aubin Grove, Banjup, Cockburn Central and Jandakot.

With 25 years experience as a police officer, including a stint helping roll out a neighbourhood policing model in the UK, Sgt Davies was confident her team would be a boon for the area.

‘We’re doing the things that upset the public – the noisy neighbours, dogs walking around, hooning – things that up until now had tended to get shifted to the bottom of the pile,’ she said

‘we can target those issues and work with agencies to resolve the issues rather than put a bandaid on it and next week you’re back there.’

Sgt Davies said community engagement would play a big part in keeping local suburbs safe.

‘The first month will be about people getting used to the new policing model so they know they’ve got one team of police officers responsible for ongoing issues. It isn’t just about locking people up, it’s about engaging with the community.’
