Remembering Sam

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

Sam died in 2009 after being diagnosed with bowel cancer. He was just 17.

Organisers hope the fifth Sam Hurst Memorial Ice Hockey Game will see the total raised for the foundation since the first game in 2009 exceed the $50,000 mark.

Sam’s mum Lorna said the intra-club game got bigger every year and was the perfect way to honour her son.

‘The Cockburn Ice Arena management and staff, as well as the Cockburn Hawks Ice Hockey Club, have always supported and promoted the memorial game,’ she said.
