Dubbed Coolbellup Perspectives, residents were invited to capture in picture form what they loved most about the suburb.

Robyn Howe won the competition with her photo Last Day in the Sun, showing a native local backdrop. Kate Ferguson and Sarah Cork won second and third prize respectively.

Coolbellup Community Association’s Rona Dean said the competition was run not only to showcase their suburb but also get an insight into how those who did not live there perceived it.

“We received 21 photos and we had aimed for 20 so we were quite pleased,” she said.

“We feel for Coolbellup that these events start small and gather momentum and that it is vital to promote Cooby as a vibrant suburb. We will be running this as an annual event.”

The group is looking to bring the community together again on April 9 with a film night screening Inside Out at Rinaldo Reserve.
