RETIRED Fremantle Hospital consultant Dan O’Donnellwas honoured at the 2017 WA Health Excellence Awards on Wednesday night.
The former doctor was the joint winner of the Minister for Health Award which recognises an individual who demonstrates a commitment to helping West Australians achieve healthier, longer and better quality lives.
Dr O’Donnell worked for 20 years at Fremantle Hospital and dedicated his service to socially disadvantaged patients, including providing outreach services to remote communities in the Christmas and Cocos Keeling Islands and the Kimberley region.
Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group acting executive director Janet Zagari congratulated Dr O’Donnell and described him as “a much-loved staff member whose kindness and clinical expertise are greatly missed”.
Other award winners included the Fiona Stanley Hospital Pharmacy for its work reducing waiting times for chemotherapy patients.
