Abyss is the daunting new $12 million dollar rollercoaster ride at Adventure World.

The theme park’s single largest investment of its 31-year history has four inversions, a section ridden in the dark, a zero-g-roll, rollover loop and a cobra and an inline loop, across 630m of track.

Notable was the imposing 10-storey-high vertical lift that takes thrill seekers to the crest and over a 100-foot drop, the sixth steepest in the world.

Topping 85km/h and reaching between -1 and 4.5 G-forces, the ride would put Adventure World on the map as a theme park, CEO Mark Shaw said.

‘This is without doubt the most exhilarating ride visitors to Adventure World have ever experienced,’ he said. ‘It’s a ride like no other.’

Tourism Council CEO Evan Hall hoped the ride could reinvigorate tourism in the state. ‘Investment in attractions such as Adventure World is critical for getting visitors to WA,’ he said.

‘This summer will be crucial to turn around the decline in tourists and it is fantastic to see Perth’s favourite theme park lead the way.’
