Tackling the ultra-marathon challenge will be the Rogue Runners, who aim to raise $20,000 for the Australian Childhood Foundation.

Co-founder Jason Nelson said work done by the ACF resonated strongly with the group, which counts former police officers among its members.

We felt that this type of organisation could do with the greater exposure that our running for them could provide, he said.

We really want to help give a voice to children battling trauma, and be relentless in 2015-16 in advocating for their needs.

After forming in 2011, the not-for-profit group has helped raise $52,000 for a number of organisations.

Just last year more than $22,000 was raised for the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.

The event is being staged at Cockburn Gateway on September 5.
