EVERYBODY needs a bit of love, especially the kind that comes from four-legged friends.

With plenty of cats and dogs looking for a home, RSPCA WA is running its Lasting Love promotion over the WA Day long weekend in the hope some of its long-term residents will be able to finally find love.

RSPCA’s Malaga centre will be running a special adoption price for all dogs, cats and other pets that have been available for adoption for five months or more, with all adoptions including microchipping, sterilisations, vaccinations and behaviour assessments.

RSPCA WA community engagement executive manager Maree Daniels said they wanted to find homes for as many long termers as they could.

“Some pets can remain under our care for a long period of time for a variety of reasons, maybe they’re not the prettiest or the youngest, but each still has their own charm and potential to make lasting, loyal and wonderful new family members,” she said.

“There is no time limit to how long an animal might be with us waiting for its suitable new home, but we’d much rather see them enjoying being part of a family as soon as they are ready.

“We are hopeful we can find suitable homes for as many as possible this long weekend, which will in turn create space for us to take in more animals who need us in the weeks to come.”
