Salvo’s reno puts safety first

Prior to the revamp, conducted by volunteers from Bunnings O’Connor last Monday, the room was used for a number of reasons, making it cluttered and disorganised.

‘When we arrived in January the food was placed on shelving with a max load of 20kg, with the food loaded on it reaching 100kg plus,’ Mr Stobie said.

‘This was causing the shelves to bow and lean significantly, creating an extremely unsafe environment for our staff and volunteers.’

Following efforts last week, Mr Stobie said the centre would now be a lot more efficient.

‘We are extremely happy with the finished product,’ he said. ‘The food is well organised and set up making it easier for volunteers to find what is needed. We are also able to keep track of what we have so that when we run out of certain stock we can replace it.’
