Samba beats grow throughout port city

Now, locals would be hard pressed to attend a Fremantle event without seeing or hearing performances from students of the local business.

Run in two parts, owner Michael Boase and his wife Yamina Hofer-Boase offer tuition in a range of musical and dance forms, including African drumming, Brazilian percussion and dancing, and bellydancing.

The pair also has a professional branch called Beleza Show and the community group Beleza Tribe.

Ms Hofer-Boase said they enjoyed bringing the community together through music and dance.

"Our goal is to create community performances which move and uplift people's spirits and we also like the idea of"connecting" people through the arts," she said.

"World music and dance helps us to expand our perception of the arts and of life itself.

"It opens up our mind to other cultures, it teaches us about tolerance."
