Samba festival sashays its way into town

The night will be an array of all things Brazilian, with samba music and cuisine part of an outpouring of Brazilian culture that will include some well-known groups like Fremantle’s Wasamba Carnival Drummers.

Wasamba member Emma Hyam said it was great to showcase Brazilian culture in an event like this.

‘I’m very excited for this event because it feels like it’s the right time to unleash the ‘Samba world’ in WA,’ she said.

‘People should go whether they know and love samba, are interested in samba, don’t know anything about samba, or just love to party.

‘Altogether it is a celebration of the communal joy, fun and creativity that samba brings.’

Also performing on the night will be Juliana Areias, the Perth Samba Social Club, Beleza Tribe, The Sambanistas, the Bassonovas, Bloco Do Norte and the Rio Margaritas with Richy Glasgow as emcee.

Samba Summit will be at the Fremantle Town Hall on March 30 from 5.30pm to 10pm.
