Brett and Melinda Stokes and their daughter Mikayla are joining in the Variety WA Santa Fun Run to help give back to the charity that has helped them with Mikayla’s needs.

Thousands are expected to flood the port city in their Santa suits on December 1 when Variety WA hosts its annual Santa Fun Run.

Last year, 1600 Santas helped raise more than $45,000, but Variety is hoping 2013 is the year it cracks the magic $100,000 mark.

Among the participants are the Stokes family from Hammond Park.

Their six-year-old daughter Mikayla has global developmental delay, meaning she has limited control over her body movements and needs to use a wheelchair.

In the past 12 months, Variety has granted Mikayla a standing frame worth $5500 and $10,000 to modify the family car to make trips easier.

‘We are super-excited and are doing our best to get right behind the fundraising campaign,’ father Brett said.

Team Mikayla S has several sponsors and a crew of supporters to help make a big difference to help Mikayla and the family give back to Variety.’
