Parents shared concerns the school would not be open in time for semester one next year, in last week’s Gazette, and that would force kindergarten and pre-primary aged kids to attend Success Primary School until the school was built.

But a representative for the Education Department said the siren would sound come semester one, 2014.

‘The Department of Education wishes to clarify that children who enrol in the new primary school in Hammond Park will start school there when it opens on the first day of the 2014 school year,’ the representative said.

‘Children from the Hammond Park area who are due to start kindergarten and pre-primary in 2014 are required to enrol in and attend the new primary school. There is no truth to reports that children in the same school will be asked to wear different uniforms.

‘Parents are only required to purchase one uniform for that school as their children will wear the uniform for the new primary school when they start there next year.’

It must also be noted from last week’s story that the school being built is Hammond Park PS, not Success.
