Sessions develop Myanmar doctors

Primarily funded by the Claremont-based International Skills and Training Institute in Health, the project was initiated by emergency physician Chris Curry who is contributing to a Diploma of Emergency Medicine.

Associate Professor Curry wanted to initiate and progress the discipline of emergency medicine in Myanmar. Fremantle doctors Chris Kruk, Rosalind Taylor and Murali Kesavan delivered the course last month to 18 local doctors who were orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, a single general surgeon, physician and paediatrician.

Dr Kruk said the doctors received the course ‘enthusiastically’ and actively engaged in the sessions.
