Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

First Steps Early Learning teacher and Beeliar resident Shari Edwards was nominated in the Early Childhood Educator of the Year category, one of 14 West Australians named as finalists across all categories.

Ms Edwards said she had wanted to work with children for as long as she could remember and she was ‘thrilled’ to be a finalist.

‘I was given a gift once that says, ‘A great teacher loves teaching others to love learning’ and I do ” it really is a privilege to work with children and make a positive difference in their lives,’ she said.

‘I am reminded on a daily basis when I see the children learning and hear feedback from their families, that I am helping them to become the best person they can be and that rewarding feeling keeps me smiling.
