AUTHORITIES have released a shark warning this morning after a whale carcass was reported to the north of Fremantle’s North Mole.

Fremantle Port Authority staff reported the sighting just after 8am this morning, with Fisheries officers currently monitoring the situation in case the carcass tempts sharks to come closer to shore.

Authorities are assessing what can be done with the remains.

People in the area are asked to be vigilant in the water around North Mole, Fremantle and nearby beaches and report any shark sightings to Water Police on 9442 8600.
