More than 111,500 people have already walked through the local passenger terminal, but Fremantle Ports trade development manager Thor Elliott said it would grow when the last two ships came in.
We estimate the final total will be about 117,000 passengers from 43 ship visits, he said.
The last time the port of Fremantle passed the 100,000 passenger mark was in 1973 when 118,000 passengers came through the port.
With 56 ship visits scheduled for next year, the figures can only improve.
Mr Elliott said last weeks announcement that Busselton would receive more cruise ship visits, including a stop from the Queen Mary II, was a flow-on effect from the increase in Fremantle visits.
The continuing growth in cruise shipping calls at Fremantle Port will help to increase the number of cruise calls to regional destinations in WA, he said.
