Mr Begley said the casual cruise, filled with great scenery, good company and entertainment, was a great way to relive the memories of the car’s past.

‘It’s a really good way to get away with mates,’ he said.

‘There’s great entertainment and good organised fun for everyone.

‘You can just cruise along and do your thing, all while raising money for the children.’

He said the couple’s prized possession, which he had built three years ago, had proved a head-turner.

‘I built it a few years ago for my wife’s birthday, but I drive it more than she does,’ he said.

‘It’s in showroom condition, with a nice set of wheels, so it does get a lot of stares and people do like talking to us about the car.’

Mr Begley said he had raised close to $13,000 for charity in the three years the cruise had been held.
