A PHOTO of a silhouetted skateboarder against the Esplanade Reserve ferris wheel has won the 2016 Amateur Photographic Competition.

Photographer Damien Crocker took out first prize ahead of more than 150 other entries for his snap, winning $1000 and a camera kit.

Mr Crocker said the competition was a great opportunity for photographers.

“Fremantle is a fantastic place for everyone and especially photographers,” he said.

“It has a history but is also constantly changing and there always seems to be something happening.

“I especially look forward to APC Fremantle to see what other people have been able to find and capture across the city from small, unnoticed pockets and details to original perspectives of popular locations.”

Dave Lester took out second prize with a picture of Fremantle during a lightning storm, while Mayur Bhavsar’s series of a man enjoying Fremantle’s quintessential sites won the people’s choice award.
