Skateboarders roll in for fun at the Plaza

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

Last Monday, Wednesday and Sunday, people of all ages and abilities were invited to roll down to the newly opened facility, giving first-time skaters the chance to learn some basic skills and the more confident skaters the opportunity to pick up some new tricks.

Skateboarding Australia WA state manager Ben Bowring said the workshops were held all over Perth and were a great chance for children and adults alike to have some fun.

‘We have kids as young as three or four joining in alongside teens and young adults,’ he said. Then there are the parents who take the opportunity to learn to skate alongside their kids as well.

‘Skateboarding is great exercise, brings the community together, builds self esteem, is cheaper than traditional sports, you make loads of new friends and you can let the good times roll.’

More workshops will be held at the Plaza on April 27 and May 18 from 10am to noon and May 2 and 16 from 4.30 to 6.30pm.
