For Smileys Childcare Centre in White Gum Valley, this acknowledgement has come two-fold after they made the shortlist of finalists for two categories in the upcoming Australian Childcare Week Awards.

Smileys, the only WA childcare centre to be named as a finalist, made the shortlist in the Child-Led Learning category, as well as the Healthy Lifestyles category.

Smileys Childcare Centre’s Emma Nunan said to be the only WA centre to make the final list ‘blew us away’.

‘We have a very passionate team of educators who value each child, their individuality, curiosity and willingness to learn,’ she said.

‘By developing positive relationships, listening to the children’s voice, as well as utilising the strengths of our educators, we have been able to develop a child led curriculum that fosters learning and development, encouraging children to have fun and promotes a healthy lifestyle within Smileys that extends beyond to our wider community.

‘We think our team does a fabulous job every single day, and receiving such recognition is an incredibly uplifting and rewarding experience.’
