South Fremantle: medal stolen from war vet in burglary

A VETERAN of three wars has had his service medal stolen in a South Fremantle home burglary.

Michael Seats, who fought in Korea, Vietnam and Malaysia, had his medal stolen when the studio attached to his garage was burgled.

His wife Doreen said the only other thing besides the medal that they noticed had been stolen were some paintings .

“I went into the studio (Tuesday) afternoon and I noticed that it was a mess, it was rather upsetting,” she said.

“Nothing precious was stolen besides the medal, they took Michael’s medal and a lot of water colours.

“I don’t know whether it’s someone who has been watching us and what we do, but they must have noticed we were out.

“It’s peculiar; strange people out there.”

Fremantle Police senior sergeant Brad Warburton said they were investigating the burglary and asked for anyone with information regarding the burglary, or who knew the location of the medal, to contact them on 9430 1222.
